Rescue story
In March 2025, WEACT received news that a wildfire was spreading rapidly. Before dawn, the team drove to Sancheong in Gyeongnam Province, loading the car with water, food, and rescue equipment. From that day on, the fire continued to spread across Uiseong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, Andong, and Yeongdeok. Some dogs were able to run and escape, but many who were still tied to their leashes couldn’t break free and were trapped in the flames, unable to move. Even the dogs that managed to run eventually collapsed after enduring intense heat and severe burns. The dogs rescued from the Gyeongbuk Province wildfire survived, but many were left with painful injuries and lingering fear. It was there that we met Tilly.
Personality
Tilly is a gentle, soft-natured girl who looks at people with calm, round, and trusting puppy eyes. Even when the environment around her is noisy or busy, she stays relaxed and is perfectly content resting quietly in her crate. While other dogs may run and play excitedly beside her, Tilly continues to remain calm and composed.
With humans
When you call her name – “Tilly!” – she happily trots over, tilts her head, and gently asks for affection. She truly enjoys being petted, and it’s easy to see how happy she feels in those moments. Tilly cooperates calmly and kindly from brushing to nail trimming. She is a very sweet and people-friendly dog who loves gentle attention and care.
With dogs
Tilly has not yet had experience interacting with small-breed dogs. However, she gets along well with medium and large-breed dogs and shows no issues in group settings. She tends to be independent, often resting or spending time on her own without showing much interest in other dogs.
Energy level
Tilly has completed her heartworm treatment, so it is recommended that her activity be increased slowly and at a comfortable pace. For now, short and gentle walks about twice a day are suitable. These walks also help support her outdoor potty training and her gradual adjustment to the outside environment.
Needs help with
Tilly is comfortable wearing a leash, so gentle and calm walk training can be continued with her. She prefers going potty outdoors, but thanks to her tidy nature, she also uses indoor pads about 70% of the time. Because of this, she is likely to adjust well if indoor potty training is needed. She responds well to treat-based rewards and rests comfortably in her crate.
Health specifics
Tilly completed her heartworm treatment earlier this summer. A small lump that was once felt near her mammary area was examined and confirmed to be simple inflammation, and it is expected to subside with rest and normal daily living. She experiences motion sickness during long-distance travel, so when traveling far, please provide her with breaks and gentle care along the way.
Ideal family
Tilly loves gentle affection from people and will often ask sweetly for a little more petting. She is quite independent – she tends to walk around quietly or rest on her own without bothering her friends at our adoption center. Because of this, she is likely to adjust well even as the only dog in the home. With her calm and mild personality, a quiet, relaxed home would suit her well, as long as her family can show her warmth and affection. A peaceful home filled with love and gentle care will be the happiest place for Tilly. She is now waiting for a family who will cherish her and share a calm and comfortable life together.
