Rescue story
In the scorching heat of August 2025, WEACT received an urgent call for help. Two dogs were tied outside with metal chains, suffering in the brutal temperatures. One dog was in critical condition—unable to bear his own weight due to his stomach being swollen with fluid and maggots infesting his body—while his companion, Puchi, could only watch helplessly as his friend suffered. WEACT arrived in time to rescue them both, but despite our efforts, Puchi’s friend didn't make it. In his final moments, it felt as though he was entrusting his beloved companion to our care. Today, Puchi’s eyes shine with trust and love. He deserves a family who will treasure him for simply being who he is—and we believe that family is out there, waiting to find him.
Personality
Puchi is a natural explorer with an insatiable curiosity. At the exercise yard, he'll spend the entire time investigating every corner with his nose to the ground. When he is in a new environment, he doesn't panic and confidently walks around. He explores different spots until he finds one that is right for him. Puchi’s a bold, adventurous spirit who embraces the unknown and thrives on discovering new experiences in this big world.
With humans
Puchi’s a bit awkward with human touch, but he doesn't reject it. This is likely because he spent more years tied up with a cold metal chain than he did receiving love and care. However, it doesn't take long to open Puchi's heart. One meaningful exchange of gazes that says "I care about you and you matter to me" is all it takes for him to wag his tail and welcome you in.
With dogs
Perhaps because Puchi endured the hardships of outdoor life with a companion, he doesn't have difficulty living alongside other dogs. However, Puchi can be assertive with male dogs and may test boundaries, so his family should be prepared to supervise and manage those interactions.
Energy level
Puchi thrives on freedom and adventure, so he needs at least two walks daily to stay happy and healthy. Give him the chance to explore new scents and environments, and provide outlets where he can express his playful, energetic nature in positive ways.
Needs help with
Puchi is currently working on crate training and potty training. While he's learning to go indoors when needed, he prefers doing his business outside. He's also practicing leash walks and has been doing great, even unbothered by outdoor car noises.
Health specifics
Puchi has completed heartworm treatment and is now in excellent health.
Ideal family
For Puchi, whether his new home is an apartment or house doesn’t matter. What he needs most is a family committed to frequent walks and adventures, allowing this freedom-loving dog to experience all the joys and discoveries he missed during his years of confinement. A family who will keep him cool in the summer heat and cozy warm in winter, ensuring those painful memories of being chained outside fade into the past. With love like that, Puchi will be the happiest dog in the world.
