Rescue story

After receiving a report about a "blind puppy trapped in a wire cage," WEACT headed to the site of an illegal dog farm in Seongnam. It was a place where it was hard to believe living creatures could survive. There were old, dirty basins full of food scraps, trash and waste piled everywhere, swarms of insects, and a stench so strong it was hard to breathe. In this horrific environment, the dogs were trapped in narrow, rusted wire cages, panting and struggling to get through each day. And yet, when human hands reached out to them, they quietly leaned in and accepted the touch. We gave this lovable dog the name "Comet." Now we're committed to staying with Comet until the end, so that instead of painful memories, Comet can feel warmth and build a new future.

Personality

Meet Comet, a star-like companion who appeared like a comet! Comet’s formula for happiness is simple: She loves walks! She loves people! She loves treats! With a loving forever family by her side, her days quickly fill with pure joy. Out on walks, she is more excited than anyone in the world, and her eyes sparkle at the sight of tasty treats. Whenever someone she loves calls her name, watching her wag her tail and run over with joy brings an automatic smile to everyone's face. But Comet also has a delightfully charming, quirky side. Whenever there's something she simply doesn't want to do, she playfully flops onto her back as if saying, "Hmm... I'd rather not!" displaying her adorable, stubborn charm.

With humans

Comet is an absolute sweetheart who adores human touch and affection. She forms deep bonds with people, especially holding a sweet spot for grandmothers! While she is warm and loving toward everyone, because of her past trauma from the illegal dog farm, she can feel startled or uneasy if men approach her head-on in a sudden or intimidating posture. With a little time, gentle approach, and respectful distance, she quickly opens up her loving heart to become your most devoted companion.

With dogs

Comet enjoys her peaceful environment and learns well with human guidance. While her main focus and joy come from human affection, treats, and playful toys, she coexists comfortably alongside other respectful dog friends.

Energy level

Comet is a lively girl who lights up whenever it's time to go outside. She thrives on regular daily walks where she can sniff around, burn off her energy, and happily explore her surroundings.

Needs help with

While Comet is crate trained and fully prefers outdoor potty, she can be sensitive to loud, frightening noises, such as thunder, requiring a cozy safe space during storms. She navigates her world primarily with her right eye. And, because of past trauma, family members (especially male figures) should approach her gently without sudden or head-on movements. She will also need her family to stick to a pork-free diet to prevent allergic flare-ups and apply a simple soothing ointment to her paws after baths to manage mild eczema.

Health specifics

Comet has no vision in her left eye, but she adapts remarkably well and navigates her daily life comfortably using her right eye. She is allergic to pork, which causes reactions around her mouth and belly, but does well with turkey, chicken, kangaroo, and horse meat. Currently, she eats a mix of turkey, chicken, and vegetables, and enjoys apples and watermelon as treats. She occasionally licks her paws due to mild interdigital eczema, which is easily managed with an ointment applied after baths. Other than these minor needs, she is in great health!

Ideal family

Comet is looking for a warm, attentive family who will shower her with love, safe treats, and plenty of fun chew toys. She would do wonderfully with a patient family who will respect her boundaries as she continues to heal. Whether you live in an apartment, condo, or house, doesn’t matter. What matters most to Comet is having routine daily walks, a peaceful household, and people who will cherish her as a true family member. In return, Comet will bring endless smiles, sweet affection, and bright, star-like happiness into your home.
