Rescue story

In March 2025, WEACT rushed out before dawn after hearing that wildfires were rapidly spreading in the Gyeongnam–Sancheong area. With trucks loaded with water, food, and rescue equipment, the team headed straight into the fire zone. The fires quickly spread across Uiseong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and Andong. Some dogs managed to escape, but many were tied up and couldn’t run away. Those dogs were trapped in the flames, unable to move even a single step. Some dogs collapsed after suffering severe burns. Others barely survived, escaping death by just moments, but still endured immense pain. That’s where we met Vix.

Personality

Meet Vix, a gentle and sophisticated dog with timeless charm. With his calm and understated charisma, Vix may seem a little sensitive at first glance. But once you get to know him, you’ll discover a warm gentleman at heart. Rather than rushing in or demanding attention, he quietly approaches and stays by your side. He can become a steady, comforting presence you can always count on.

With humans

Vix may seem a little shy and cautious when meeting someone for the first time, but after a few interactions, he starts to approach on his own and warmly accepts affection. Right after being rescued, he was timid and sensitive, but as the days go by, he has become noticeably more relaxed and happy to see people. Rather than forced physical contact, Vix prefers interactions that respect his pace and comfort level.

With dogs

Vix has great manners with other dogs. He lowers his posture and plays gently with smaller dogs. With larger dogs, he happily runs and joins in play. He knows how to read the room, greeting others with polite sniffing and blending in naturally during playtime. When minor conflicts arise, Vix often steps in calmly, almost like a little mediator. Lastly, he is a smart fella who shows impressive self-control and does not use his mouth, even when he gets excited.

Energy level

One walk a day is sufficient for Vix. He enjoys playing with dog friends and spending time with people, but he especially values quiet time to rest and relax. Instead of intense activities, Vix thrives with light, enjoyable outings followed by peaceful downtime. A balanced, calm lifestyle suits him best.

Needs help with

Vix enjoys calm walks at a steady pace and shows his curiosity by loving to sniff around. However, he can be cautious around obstacles like drains or stairs, so gentle encouragement and patience are important. Sudden loud noises or abrupt movements may startle him, so desensitization training is recommended. Lastly, Vix gets car sick for long-distance rides, so a slow and short drive is advised.

Health specifics

Vix is currently healthy. However, it is believed that he had a fungal skin infection in the past, which has left some areas with slightly thinner fur on his back and around his forehead. Vix tested positive for heartworm after his rescue, and he has completed his treatment.

Ideal family

Vix can live in either a house or an apartment. More importantly, he would do best in a calm home that respects his personal space and pace. If there is another dog at home, Vix is likely to learn and grow socially through that companionship. He loves people but may still find some situations challenging, so a family that approaches him with understanding, patience, and gentle affection would be perfect. Vix will quietly and deeply enrich your everyday life. Are you ready to fall for his charm? :)
