Rescue story

Hidden in a blind spot beside a dangerous road where dump trucks raced by, a scene beyond horrifying was waiting to be discovered. When WEACT arrived following an urgent tip, they found dogs locked inside metal cages. Scattered around was a fur-removal machine, a pot filled with food waste, and bone fragments strewn across the ground. The cages where the dogs had been kept were filled with filth and rotting food. And most chillingly of all, a kitchen knife had been plunged into the cage door, pointed directly at the dogs inside. No further explanation was needed for what kind of place this was. That day, we met Kongee there. Now, Kongee is ready to begin a new life, one no longer defined by the terror of a knife, but filled instead with the warmth of human love.

Personality

Meet the adorable Kongee, a puppy as pure and bright as a flower blooming on a spring day. The moment your eyes meet hers, her tail is already going at full speed and she's bouncing with barely contained joy. She is a pure-hearted soul. In the mornings especially, her affection meter hits 200%! Kongee rolls around as if to say, "Pet me here! No, pet me there!" and expresses her love with her whole body. Starting the day with Kongee’s loving good morning is enough to make any day feel special. As a puppy still growing and discovering the world, everything is exciting to her: a new smell, a toy to play with, a pair of eyes to look into. She finds joy in every little thing and soaks it all in with her whole being. Kongee gives love freely and genuinely, and gives back even more than she receives.

With humans

Kongee absolutely loves people. The moment someone has earned even a little bit of her heart, she comes running with her tail wagging furiously, as if to say, "You remember me, right?" and sticks close, showering you with affection. Even with people she's meeting for the first time, she doesn't put up much of a wall. Kongee may hang back and observe with curious eyes at first, but a warm voice or a little bit of friendly attention is all it takes for her to come trotting over with a wagging tail. Kongee makes friends quickly and easily, even with strangers.

With dogs

Kongee hasn't had a wide variety of experiences with other dogs yet, but so far she has shown a calm and stable approach when greeting most dogs she meets. Please help her continue building healthy social skills through positive and joyful experiences with new friends.

Energy level

Kongee knows how to play hard and rest well in equal measure. To help her burn off energy in a healthy way, one to two walks a day along with some fun playtime would be just right for her.

Needs help with

Kongee is steadily working through her training one step at a time. Walks are still so exciting for her that she sometimes pulls on the leash in her enthusiasm. However, she is responsive to treats and her caregiver's voice, so with consistent practice she will develop wonderful leash manners in no time.
