Rescue story

Heart was found wandering after being caught in a wild boar snare. When we discovered her, a rusty, sharp trap was tightly clamped around her small leg. Despite the pain, she wandered onto dangerous roads, surviving by desperately rummaging through food waste. Her body bore traces of multiple pregnancies and births, and a worn-down collar—deeply embedded into her skin—silently testified to the harsh life she had endured. Local authorities attempted to capture her several times, but her strong wariness caused her to flee each time. Then one day, after receiving a report that “the dog has been spotted,” WEACT rushed to Namyangju, a city northeast of Seoul, and successfully rescued her. At that heartbreaking scene, we saved her—and to mark the beginning of her new life, we gave her the name Heart.

Personality

Heart carefully and cautiously observes the world, taking in even the smallest changes with great sensitivity. She appears very calm and quiet on the outside, but inside she carries fears that have built up over a long time. Still, she tries to accept situations at her own gentle pace, which makes her especially lovable. Heart quietly works to connect more with others.

With humans

Heart does have an affection for people, but fear still tends to come before curiosity. When meeting someone for the first time or encountering unfamiliar touch, she remains cautious and needs time to feel comfortable. Heart doesn’t warm up fast, but when she senses sincerity, she’ll come closer and stay near, even wagging her tail. Her careful attempts to connect are truly endearing and full of quiet warmth.

With dogs

Heart remains calm and unthreatened regardless of another dog’s size, gender, or age. Even when other dogs approach her, she accepts them quietly and greets them gently, showing a peaceful and balanced social nature.

Energy level

With her quiet and composed temperament, Heart is not a high-energy dog. One daily walk is enough to help her maintain positive energy and a healthy level of activity.

Needs help with

Heart tends to feel tense in new environments and around unfamiliar stimuli. Please help her gradually learn to accept outside stimulation through a variety of everyday experiences. Once she feels a strong sense of security through bonding with her caregiver, it would be ideal to calmly proceed with leash-walking and basic house training as the next steps.

Health specifics

Heart is currently in very good health.

Ideal family

The ideal family for Heart is one that respects her gentle pace and is willing to patiently wait for her. A calm and understanding household that quietly watches over her and pays attention even to small changes will be her greatest source of support. By helping her slowly build confidence through small, everyday experiences, Heart will gradually learn about the world. Whether or not there is another dog in the home does not matter. What matters most is a family that accepts Heart just as she is and cherishes each small step she takes. With such a family, Heart will feel truly happy.
