Rescue story

In March 2025, WEACT received news that a wildfire was spreading rapidly. Before dawn, the team drove to Sancheong in Gyeongnam Province, loading the car with water, food and rescue equipment. From that day on, the fire continued to spread across Uiseong, Cheongsong, YeongYang, Andong, and Yeongdeok. Some dogs were able to break free and run in all directions, but many were still tied to their leashes and couldn’t escape the flames. They were trapped, unable to take even a single step. Even the dogs that managed to run suffered severe burns after being exposed to the intense heat for too long. The dogs rescued from the Gyeongbuk Province wildfire survived, but many were left with painful injuries and lingering fear. It was there that we met Dodam.

Personality

Meet Dodam – the sunshine of our adoption center. Dodam is a bright and cheerful girl who always wags her tail with excitement and brings joy wherever she goes. She smiles happily even at the smallest bit of attention. When she plays with her friends, she runs around with a pure, playful spirit that makes her truly lovable. She has a warm, uplifting energy that brightens the hearts of everyone around her – she’s the kind of dog who naturally makes the atmosphere feel lighter and happier. During her burn treatment, Dodam also showed a surprising amount of calmness and maturity. Even while enduring pain, she stayed patient and gentle through the entire process, reminding us just how brave and strong she is. A cheerful personality, a kind and gentle heart, and quiet inner strength – that’s what makes Dodam such a special girl.

With humans

Dodam truly loves people. Even when meeting someone for the first time, she approaches confidently, wagging her tail and greeting them with a friendly hello. Thanks to her bright and gentle personality, she opens her heart easily and quickly becomes comfortable and affectionate with anyone she spends time with.

With dogs

While staying at our adoption center, Dodam has gotten along well with a variety of dogs and continues to interact with them in a calm and friendly way.

Energy level

Dodam is a bright and energetic dog. At least two walks a day will help her use her energy in a positive way.

Needs help with

Dodam is currently working on house-training and crate training at our adoption center. After several months of burn treatment, she has also begun practicing leash-walking and slowly getting used to the outdoors. New sights and sounds can take her a little time to get used to, but she loves people and she’s a quick learner! Please continue with gentle and consistent training so she can grow more confident and enjoy her walks in the future.

Health specifics

Her burn treatment is now in its final stages, although some scarring remains. It does not affect her daily life, and aside from this, Dodam is in very good overall health condition.

Ideal family

Dodam loves spending time with people more than anything. She is the happiest when she’s by your side and she is now waiting for a family who can share that warmth and affection with her. Whether in everyday moments or special ones, Dodam is ready to be a loving family member who shares life alongside her family. With the right home, she will show her happiness everyday with her bright and joyful smile. Dodam is still learning and training, so she will need a patient family who can guide her gently and help her continue growing at a comfortable pace. She can adapt to many different living environments. She can do well as the only dog, but if there’s another dog in the home, it would be best if their size and energy level are a good match. Dodam is a cheerful girl who brings warmth and happiness to the people around her – and now she is waiting for a family who will hold her close and love her in return. With Dodam, every day will be filled with happy memories.
