Rescue story
During one of the coldest winters, a mother dog named Vea and her puppy, Vino, were found tied up behind a house in Namyangju, surviving only on each other's warmth. Their shelter was a small, dilapidated doghouse that offered little protection from the freezing temperatures. The only things around them were frozen water, stale food, and scraps of leftovers. Whenever the young puppy stepped away from his mother's side or touched the icy ground, he would cry in distress. Each time, Vea would rush over in a panic, wrapping her body around her baby to keep him warm and safe. She did everything she could to protect her puppy, yet there was no one there to care for her. The former owner stated that one of the two puppies had disappeared and that previous litters had already been given away. Despite claiming Vea was too precious to part with, she remained chained outside in harsh conditions. After a long period of persistent persuasion, WEACT was finally able to rescue Vea and her puppy and bring them to safety. Today, Vino has already found a home, but Vea is still waiting for her own family. One can only imagine how many times she has had to say goodbye to her puppies throughout her life. For 11 years, Vea's world was filled with cold and lonely winters. Now, under WEACT's care, she is no longer just a mother dog, she is simply Vea, patiently waiting for the warm spring of a new beginning.
Personality
Vea is a calm, thoughtful, and intelligent dog who likes to take a moment to process unfamiliar situations. Through socialization training and positive introductions, she has become increasingly friendly with both people and other dogs. While she is generally gentle and composed, she occasionally becomes excited and playful. With patient guidance and reassurance, Vea blossoms into a joyful companion who loves spending time with those she trusts.
With humans
Vea is a girl who loves tasty treats, and when you call her name with a gentle voice, warm eye contact, and patience, you will find her happily approaching you with a wagging tail and bright smile. Recently, she even allowed a stranger to brush her hair without hesitation, showing just how much her confidence and trust in people have grown. As she continues to experience kindness and stability, her affectionate personality continues to shine.
With dogs
Vea gets along with other dogs. Although she hasn't had many opportunities to interact with diverse dogs, she does well with calm and polite canine companions. She benefits from slow introductions and enjoys spending time with respectful dog friends. With continued positive experiences, her social confidence will continue to grow.
Energy level
Vea enjoys relaxing and spending quiet time resting, but once she heads outside for a walk, her cheerful side comes alive. She happily bounces along and genuinely enjoys exploring her surroundings. Because of her medical history, gentle daily walks are recommended over strenuous exercise. A leisurely stroll shared with her family is the perfect way for Vea to stay happy and healthy.
Needs help with
Vea walks well with people she knows and trusts and continues to make good progress with house training, with about an 80% success rate indoors. When crate training was first introduced, she found it unfamiliar and somewhat intimidating. However, she adapted quickly and now views her crate as a safe, comfortable place where she can relax and rest peacefully.
Health specifics
Vea previously had a severe, longstanding heartworm infection before she was rescued. Although the heartworms have been successfully treated, they caused permanent changes to her heart and lungs. The good news is that her condition is stable. She does not require medication at this time, and it does not affect her daily life or ability to enjoy normal activities. She is a happy, active dog who lives comfortably, but her adopter should be aware of her medical history and continue routine veterinary checkups as recommended.
Ideal family
Vea would thrive in a calm and patient home where she can continue gaining confidence at her own pace. A family that understands her background and allows her time to adjust will be rewarded with a loyal, affectionate companion. She has already shown remarkable growth in her social skills, adaptability, and trust in people. Now she simply needs someone willing to walk beside her through the next chapter of her life. With her bright smile, attentive ears, and gentle heart, Vea is ready to leave her difficult past behind and finally experience the love and security she has always deserved. She is waiting for a family who will see her not only as a former mother dog but as Vea, a wonderful dog ready to spend her golden years surrounded by love.
