Rescue story

WEACT stepped in to open the door of an apartment in Jeju that had remained sealed for five years. Ooze was leaking out past the front door, and the home was filled with piles of trash stacked up to chest level. In a nightmarish space filled with suffocating odors and swarming insects, ten precious lives were barely surviving day by day. Emergency isolation procedures were initiated immediately on-site. Even after the rescue was completed, the owner claimed they had never neglected the dogs and demanded them back. However, we could never send these sweet souls back to that dark, filth-covered hellhole. After the 4-week legal isolation period ended, the owner finally surrendered ownership. Now, protected in a safe and clean environment with WEACT, Wooyu and her friends are taking their very first steps toward the bright, peaceful lives they always deserved.

Personality

True to her name, which means "milk" in Korean, Wooyu is as cozy, soft, and warm as a cup of gently heated milk! She is a walking "happy virus" who adores both humans and canine friends while also knowing how to enjoy calm, quiet alone time. She shows no aggression, biting, or growling whatsoever. When she gets excited, she makes tiny, adorable chattering sounds as if she's telling you a story, and she bounces around with joy in front of the people she loves. With her gentle heart and affectionate nature, Wooyu brings pure happiness wherever she goes.

With humans

Wooyu loves people without a single doubt in her heart. Whenever guests visit, she greets them with a wagging tail, and she happily leans into friendly strangers on walks who reach out to pet her. She loves being touched anywhere and will melt into your lap the moment you sit down. Interestingly, Wooyu has a sweet preference for children, likely feeling drawn to their small, pure energy as she explores the world.

With dogs

Wooyu is friendly and eager to make dog friends. She approaches other dogs without any aggression or defensiveness. Because her enthusiasm can sometimes get ahead of her before she does a proper doggy greeting, she does best with polite, well-socialized canine friends who comfortably accept her enthusiastic energy.

Energy level

Wooyu enjoys lounging, relaxing, and taking cozy naps. She is usually satisfied with one good walk a day rather than long hours of intense exercise. However, she absolutely loves going outdoors. Whenever the moment she hears it's time for a walk, she comes running over with excitement! While calm at home, she will give you the happiest, bouncy welcome whenever you return from outside.

Needs help with

Wooyu has a wonderful enthusiasm for outdoor adventures and already understands using pee pads indoors and doing her business outside on walks. Because she gets so genuinely excited when stepping outside, she can sometimes pull forward or rush eagerly to greet other dogs. Thus, she is currently working on calm leash manners and patient waiting. Although she occasionally makes minor potty mistakes, she will thrive with a bit of patient, positive guidance as she settles into her new routine.

Health specifics

Wooyu appears to have mild chronic conjunctivitis, leaving a small amount of brownish eye discharge/tearing. Her eyes should be monitored regularly, with routine ophthalmic checkups and care as needed. Other than this, she is very healthy.

Ideal family

Wooyu warms up quickly in a home with children and often forms a sweet attachment to male family members, making a household with kids or male guardians a great fit. She is looking for a gentle, patient family who will introduce her to the beauty of the world at her own pace, share plenty of snuggles, and love her unconditionally as a cherished family member.
