Rescue story

#SaveUsProject is a long-term rescue initiative by WEACT, focused on saving dogs at risk of euthanasia in municipal shelters and caring for them until they find loving homes. Many of these dogs have already endured hardship, whether from life on the streets, accidents, or abuse. Even after arriving at shelters, they often remain unseen and continue to face an uncertain future. After coming across a dog with injuries and dried blood around the eyes, WEACT set out for the Nonsan animal shelter in January 2026. Upon arrival, the shelter was filled with the sounds of distressed dogs, and it was impossible to walk away with just one. That day, eight dogs were rescued, marking the beginning of the first #SaveUsProject rescue of the new year.

Personality

"I'm Sundi, and I've got style!" Sundi is brimming with confidence and walks into any room never feeling intimidated. The moment he's held in someone's arms, he transforms into the most affectionate little kisser you've ever met. This unexpected charm is what makes everyone around him break into a smile. The more you get to know Sundi, the more his charm wins you over.

With humans

Sundi is a sweetheart beneath his bold exterior who adores human touch and is the first to approach and snuggle. Sundi is a lovable dog who will come right up to you and settle into your arms, planting kisses when he’s feeling happy. He is wonderfully expressive, but that honesty goes both ways; if a touch feels too rough, he'll let you know. So please approach him gently and give your affection slowly, and he'll give it right back tenfold.

With dogs

Sundi is still getting used to socializing naturally with other dogs. He can be a little guarded or excitable when meeting new canine friends. With patience and gradual introductions over time, he will slowly warm up and find his footing in new relationships.

Energy level

As Sundi continues to adjust to the outside world and new experiences, short walks of about 5 to 15 minutes, at least twice a day, are just right for him. Please follow his lead and keep things relaxed, letting him set the pace.

Needs help with

Sundi is a smart boy who picks up new things quickly. That said, his confident personality means he may occasionally try to steer situations in the direction he prefers. When that happens, a calm but firm response works best. He still has plenty to learn, so take it slow, match his rhythm, and give him lots of varied experiences to grow from.

Health specifics

Sundi currently has early-stage nuclear sclerosis and cataracts, and is undergoing eye drop treatment due to lens luxation. Surgery may be needed in the future, so regular monitoring and consistent eye care are important. Please make sure his eye drops are given as prescribed, and keep an eye on him to ensure he doesn't get overly excited, as that can affect his condition.

Ideal family

We are looking for a family who will walk confidently into the wide world alongside Sundi. Having spent most of his life in a small, confined world, new friends and unfamiliar stimuli can feel overwhelming for him. At times, he may cover up his nervousness by acting braver than he feels, or become excitable and defensive. But underneath it all is a gentle heart just waiting to be understood. Call his name softly, approach with a gentle touch, and before you know it, he'll be burrowing into your arms and showering you with affection. If you have a resident dog at home, please be patient with Sundi as he navigates that new dynamic, and commit to steady, caring guidance as both dogs find their rhythm together. We are waiting for the family who will help him grow not just outwardly confident, but truly brave at heart, by opening the world up to him one experience at a time.
