Rescue story

WEACT received a shocking report about a dog struggling to walk with a massive tumor hanging from her body. When the team arrived, they found that the heavy tumor dragged along the ground whenever she moved, leaving wounds and making even the simplest movements painful. Eating, walking, and even relieving herself had become incredibly difficult. But that was not the only heartbreaking scene. In the deepest corner of the backyard, hidden beneath a tree where barely any light reached, there was a wooden crate. Inside were several terrified puppies, only about six months old, trembling together in their own waste. They clung to one another, frightened and helpless. WEACT rescued every dog on the property that day, eight lives in total, including the puppies and the dog with the large tumor. Weact_Duffy was one of those dogs found tied up around the yard.

Personality

Duffy spent her whole life tethered to a short one-meter rope, never knowing the wide embrace of the world. And yet, remarkably, she never closed her heart to people. When meeting someone new, Duffy takes her time at first, approaching slowly and cautiously, but with a little patience and something tasty, she warms up quickly and allows a gentle touch. When Duffy comes to you first, sniffing curiously to say hello in her own quiet way, just slow down and match her pace. If you give Duffy enough time to explore on her own rather than rushing, she will soon wag her tail and turn into the most playful, affectionate sweetheart, asking you for pets.

With humans

Duffy is a quietly devoted love bug. Her true self is not something she shows everyone; it's a privilege reserved only for those who earn her trust. When a hand stops petting her, Duffy doesn't stay quiet about it. She'll gently tap your hand with her paw as if to say, "Just a little more, please." That adorable little nudge will make you feel like you have the whole world in the palm of your hand. Sometimes she'll quietly press her side against you, offering a warm and comforting weight that says more than words ever could. Duffy may be a cautious explorer toward strangers, but the moment she feels certain about you, those bright sparkling eyes will be ready to pour out all the affection she's been saving up.

With dogs

Among all the dogs at the center, Duffy has a uniquely calming presence. She handles new introductions with other dogs with flexibility rather than anxiety, and consistently chooses peaceful coexistence over conflict. To say she "gets along well" would be an understatement; Duffy has a warmth and social ease that allows her to blend harmoniously with just about anyone. She prefers the simple joy of running and playing alongside friends and she fits into any environment naturally, bringing a steady, reassuring presence. If you have other dogs at home, there's no need to worry. Duffy is ready to settle peacefully into any family's daily life.

Energy level

Duffy prefers a calm daily routine of going on walks by your side than zooming around the house. One to two light walks of about 30 minutes a day are enough to keep her happy and content. Duffy tends to be a little cautious on walks, taking her time to observe and adjust to unfamiliar surroundings. For a while, sticking to a familiar route will help her build the confidence that the path is safe. The walk doesn't need to be elaborate or exciting; that simple, quiet 30 minutes by your side will mean the world to her.

Needs help with

Duffy still has a lot to learn about the world. Because she hasn't had much experience riding in cars, she may get motion sick. Sudden changes in environment can also be unsettling for her, so she will need patient support as she settles into her new home and finds her footing. When it comes to grooming, she may be a little hesitant at first, but she follows along without major resistance, which is a wonderful sign.

Health specifics

Duffy is currently in excellent health with no known issues!

Ideal family

Duffy is the kind of dog who can find her own happiness whether she's the only pet receiving all the love, or blending into a multi-dog household with ease. But what matters most is a person who is genuinely willing to walk alongside her at her pace. Because unfamiliar environments can feel overwhelming for Duffy, a calm and stable home with minimal changes in living surroundings would be ideal. Duffy will absolutely open her heart to you, but she needs someone who won't rush her. If you are a family member who can say, "Take all the time you need,” Duffy will become the most affectionate and gentle companion you could ever ask for.
