Rescue story
On a bitter winter day when snow seemed ready to fall at any moment, WEACT sprang into action after hearing that there were dogs that had been left out in freezing temperatures. On the rooftop of a private home in Daejeon, 21 dogs were huddled together trembling in the cold, relying solely on each other's warmth to survive the fear and the chill. What had started as just one dog grew to 21 through neglect and endless cycles of pregnancy and birth, leaving them trapped on a frigid rooftop covered in nothing but trash and waste. After a long conversation with the owner, WEACT was able to rescue all 21 dogs, along with the puppies of a pregnant dog discovered on site, bringing the total to 25. As if cheering the dogs on toward their bright futures, heavy snow began to fall over Daejeon the moment the rescue was complete. We will never forget the beautiful snowfall that day. Now, Weact_Goun is ready to leave that rooftop behind and begin a new life, and we are waiting for the family who will open their hearts and home to him.
Personality
True to her name, Goun has a quiet and gentle charm. She may keep a little distance at first, but that’s what makes building a bond with her so special. Her biggest charm is that she’s the kind of dog you fall for more and more over time. She has a cute foodie side, finishing her meals and treats when no one is watching, and she often quietly follows her person, observing with curiosity, almost like a cat. Another surprising side of Goun appears during walks. While she may seem shy and reserved at home, outside, she walks closely beside her person, showing a sweet and trusting nature. She may not express affection openly at first, but as your bond deepens, she becomes a devoted companion who seems to have eyes only for you.
With humans
Goun is a sweet girl who needs time to feel comfortable with people. She needs time to build trust, and it may take over a month for her to fully open her heart to one person. At first, she may avoid touch or try to move away, but she has no aggression and does not bite. In smaller, enclosed spaces, she will gradually allow gentle touch, and as trust builds, her tendency to avoid decreases. Once she feels safe, she calmly accepts petting and even hugs. She is still not fully comfortable taking treats directly from hands, so patience and gentle encouragement are important. When unfamiliar people approach or look directly at her, she tends to move away quietly. With Goun, it’s not about approaching her; it’s about waiting for her.
With dogs
Goun generally gets along with other dogs but is not particularly playfull with other dogs. She prefers to explore on her own and tends to be consistently neutral toward other dogs. As long as the other dog is not aggressive, she can coexist peacefully, making her a stable and easy companion in multi-dog environments.
Energy level
Goun enjoys walks and has good leash manners. However, she is still adjusting to the outside world and may be startled by loud noises or unfamiliar stimuli. With a trusted person, she becomes much more relaxed and can enjoy her walks. One walk per day is generally sufficient, but it is important to gradually help her build confidence outdoors through gentle exposure and positive experiences.
Needs help with
Goun prefers outdoor potty but knows how to use pee pads. She adapts well to her crate once she recognizes it as a safe and comfortable space, especially with positive reinforcement. She is also calm when she is alone, showing little to no signs of separation anxiety or excessive barking. She tolerates grooming very well when handled gently and in a stable position. However, she may be startled by loud noises during walks, so desensitization to external environments is recommended. Lastly, she may occasionally show guarding behavior with her food from other dogs.
Health specifics
Goun is currently very healthy.
Ideal family
Goun is a sweet girl who needs time and space to bond with people. With someone she trusts, she shares warmth and enjoys a quiet, intimate companionship. She would do best with a patient family that respects her pace and gives her time to adjust. A home with more than one family member, where she can feel a sense of stability, would be ideal. It may take time for her to fully trust, but once she does, she will become an incredibly special companion. Even now, Goun is quietly but earnestly waiting for her forever family.
