Rescue story

WEACT rushed to the site after receiving shocking reports of a dog struggling just to take a step, burdened by a tumor as large as a rock. The massive tumor dragged along the dirt every time the dog moved, causing open wounds and making even basic activities, like relieving itself, extremely difficult. But that wasn’t all. Hidden deep in the backyard, beneath the shade of trees where sunlight barely reached, there was a wooden box. Inside, terrified puppies only about six months old were huddled together, trembling in fear and surrounded by their own waste. Along with a dog named Dear, who had a tumor nearly the size of a bowling ball, and several other dogs tied throughout the yard, WEACT rescued all eight dogs from the property. Maurice was one of them, found tied in a corner of the yard with a leash barely one meter long.

Personality

Maurice is a happy, playful boy whose bright expression naturally lights up everyone around him. He loves spending time with people, playing with other dogs, and even entertaining himself with toys when he’s on his own. Full of energy and joy, he greets each day with a cheerful and positive spirit. Because he is so enthusiastic, Maurice can sometimes become a bit overexcited, so he is learning how to calm himself. Even so, this is part of his pure and lovable charm. With his sunny personality and innocent heart, Maurice is ready to meet the family who will love him just as he is.

With humans

Maurice may be slightly shy for a moment when meeting someone new, but it doesn’t take long before he approaches on his own and asks for affection. He especially enjoys gentle petting and melts happily under caring hands and attention. Spending time with people helps Maurice feel calm and secure. The more he spends time with people, the more his warm and loving personality shines through like a hidden gem that reveals itself little by little.

With dogs

Maurice gets along well with other dogs and loves playing with them. He enjoys running, playing, and interacting with canine friends, especially those with a similar energy level. However, if another dog approaches him aggressively, Maurice may respond just as strongly. Since he doesn’t tolerate such behavior, it is important that you provide proper supervision and guidance.

Energy level

Maurice has a high energy level and needs at least two walks a day. With enough daily walks and playtime to release his energy in a healthy way, he becomes more relaxed and settled overall.

Needs help with

Maurice prefers going potty outdoors and will benefit from consistent potty training and a regular daily routine. During walks, he may feel tense when cars pass by or when he encounters unfamiliar environments. With gentle petting and treat-based rewards, he relaxes quickly and begins to explore, showing curiosity through sniffing and observation. Maurice is actively learning and growing, and with continued positive guidance, he is on his way to becoming a truly wonderful family member.

Health specifics

Maurice has completed his heartworm treatment and is currently in the recovery phase. Excessive exercise should be limited during this time, and careful monitoring and gentle care from his guardian are important as he recovers.

Ideal family

Maurice loves people and truly enjoys playtime, so he is looking for a family who can match his energy level and actively spend time with him. He especially enjoys toy play and treat-based activities, so a family that values interactive play would be an excellent fit for him. Because of his activity level, a home that has a spacious area for him to play and release his energy would be great. If there is another dog in the household who enjoys running and playing, Maurice is likely to be a great match. However, even without a resident dog, he can adapt happily as long as his family spends plenty of time with him. With his bright smile and affectionate nature, Maurice is ready to bring joy, laughter, and energy into everyday life. He is now waiting for a family who will run, play, and share a lifetime of happy moments with him.
