Rescue story
In December 2019, the #SiheungDogFarm entered the spotlight as the story of Yumi emerged—a dog that miraculously escaped with extensive burns covering its entire body. Another animal welfare organization initially launched a rescue operation, but on Christmas Day, the owner transferred all the animals to a different dog farm. Although their whereabouts remained elusive, persistent efforts eventually convinced the farm owner to surrender them. However, the time spent in slaughterhouses had inflicted profound trauma on these dogs. Taking charge of the situation, WEACT and volunteers provided ceaseless day and night care, leading to the successful rescue of 65 animals from the #SiheungDogFarm. Due to their profound trauma and injuries inflicted by humans, it necessitated an extended period of time and heightened effort to rehabilitate them. Even four years down the line, WEACT remains steadfast in its mission to facilitate the adoption of dogs from #SiheungDogFarm. #weact_naomi was one of the rescues from this very location.
Personality
Manners Maketh the Dog :D
Naomi is a calm and well-mannered little lady. She gets along easily with other dogs, but there was a time when connecting with people felt strange and unfamiliar to her. Since her rescue, she’s spent a lot of time meeting different people and learning to communicate—and slowly but surely, she’s letting down her guard and discovering what it means to live alongside humans. That said, human touch still feels a bit foreign to her, and she's not quite sure why anyone would want to trim her nails! Sudden movements from people can still make her tilt her head in confusion. Naomi is gently expanding her world, one step at a time. Please be patient with her quirks—after all, we've all had those awkward first moments too, haven’t we?
With humans
After Naomi was rescued, she was understandably wary of people for a while. But thanks to lots of patience and gentle effort, she’s now brave enough to allow polite touches from anyone who approaches her with kindness. Physical affection isn’t her favorite thing yet, but she’s learning—one calm interaction at a time. With trust and gentle communication, she continues to grow more comfortable by the day.
With dogs
Naomi is relaxed and natural around other dogs. She generally gets along well with most of them, without tension or trouble. Among the dogs she was rescued with, she seems especially close to #weact_scott, which suggests she may prefer friends that are similar in size to her.
Energy level
Naomi isn’t overly active, so a single daily walk of around 30 minutes sounds right for her.
Needs help with
Naomi is currently practicing walking alongside her caregiver indoors as part of her preparation for outdoor walks. She prefers to go potty outside, so if she ever needs to do so indoors, she'll need some gentle training. Since she's still getting used to being around people, she benefits from calm, reassuring guidance to help her feel more at ease in shared routines.
Health specifics
Naomi is very healthy.
Ideal family
Naomi loves calm and peaceful environments. She prefers a quiet, tidy home over busy places with lots of people coming and going. Rather than a household with many visitors, she would thrive best in a stable home with a small number of family members who share a consistent daily rhythm.
She doesn’t necessarily need another dog to live with, but if there is one, Naomi would do best with a calm, people-friendly companion. Having waited a long time for her forever family since her rescue, Naomi deserves someone who understands her past, embraces her present, and looks forward to building a future together.
